eBayInk Has Become Another eBay Whipping Post
I really had high hopes for this endeavor. I had high hopes for eBay and for Richard Brewer-Hay. I have met Richard and think that from our brief discussions, he is really trying to provide a unique perspective into the eBay inner sanctum. I had hoped that eBay would really allow Richard to speak freely. It was eBay's opportunity to really be transparent.
Ultimately, my hopes have been dashed. eBay is truly not allowing Richard to speak without recourse, and there is no transparency. The blog is littered with a dozen or so regular commentors that do nothing but pick apart whatever Richard or one of the visiting exec's from eBay post. The vast majority of the comments are truly just exactly what is found on the eBay Discussion Boards.
I am sure that eBay expected this, and if not they should have.
We all know that major changes have and will be taking place on site over the the next several months. What might not be apparent is the significant number of managers and directors that are leaving eBay. After the changes at the top, there is some expected change but the top people in Trust & Safety are leaving, as are many others. One has to wonder if this is normal attrition, or does it show that some staffers are not happy with the direction eBay taken.
I know after talking with Richard that he has a tough hide. I just hope that he wears leather protective clothing because he certainly has become eBay's whipping post.
Just my feedback.
