eBay Reported To Be Restructuring and Cutting Some Jobs
Reuters is reporting that eBay will be restructuring some of it's global operations mainly in North America, Belgium, Spain and Austria. The article also goes on to say that this move will effect approximately 1% of eBay's 15,000 employess worldwide.I have long felt that eBay is overweighted in middle management and even though this announcement seems to effect about 150 employees, some reports indicate this includes some long time eBay employees.
CNN is also making similar reports today.
One has to wonder whether these are actually a move by incoming CEO John Donahoe to work with a clean slate as he takes over the helm at eBay. Randy Smythe writes today that his sources indicate that a larger than normal number of eBay employees have recently been submitting resumes to other companies in the Bay area.
As the much discussed eBay changes in policy start to take effect, I am left to wonder if any of these job cuts are due to the lack of support by eBay staff to the changes? Maybe not, but I do wonder!

If eBay is middle heavy then some liposuction will do the company good.
Often, when a company is middle heavy, it is a result of empire building. Whacking a bunch of jobs out of multiple internal empires is one way to affect change in corporate culture. Without a visible stick like that, there is no incentive for people to change their behavior. Instead they would wait and sabotage until new C level management comes in.
